Gregg S. Kleiner, Partner

Mr. Kleiner earned his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. After a two-year clerkship with Bankruptcy Judge James R. Grube, Mr. Kleiner embarked upon a practice which has focused on bankruptcy and insolvency law.

Mr. Kleiner has extensive experience counseling bankruptcy trustees, public and private companies, and crisis managers in a myriad of legal and business issues related to distressed businesses. He regularly represents Chapter 7 Trustees, creditor committees, post-confirmation disbursing agents, sellers and purchasers of distressed assets, and both secured and unsecured creditors in contested matters and adversary proceedings.

Experience

  • Buyers counsel for Rackable Systems, Inc. (now Silicon Graphics International) in its US$43 million acquisition of substantially all assets owned by Chapter 11 debtor Silicon Graphics, Inc.
  • Chapter 11 debtor’s counsel to Auspex Systems, Inc., which resulted in full payment to creditors, distributions to shareholders and a fee enhancement award.
  • Bankruptcy counsel for HG Foods which purchased 15 operating Burger King® franchises from a Chapter 7 bankruptcy estate in Spokane, Washington.
